About

Two ageing music fans, one resident in Manchester and the other in London, review, rant and ramble on about tunes and bands because they never got a fanzine together.

All music is posted to give you a taste of the music we love - and will only be available for seven days (or in some cases a 100 downloads). If you like it go and buy it (in London or here in Manc). If you have a problem with us putting any file up please contact us.

Hello

Requesting your participation in the third annual UK Blogger Album Of The Year poll, where we find out who the online British music writing community think should follow 2005’s Funeral (http://tinyurl.com/2ctayv) and 2006’s Return To Cookie Mountain (http://tinyurl.com/22nov3) as their choice of the the year’s best album. Just send us your top ten of the year before December 30th - the only qualification being nominees have to be a full-length that has received its first UK release this year - and watch for the results on January 1st.

Hey,

Im writing on behalf of MusicNation to fill you in on something really cool that we have been doing lately. Were hosting a competition where unsigned artist can earn a record deal with Original Signal/Epic records, the chance to perform at Spin’s Year In Music Party, and Gibson guitar gear. Signed on to act as judges are noted artist/producer Butch Walker, who has worked with artists such as Avril Lavigne, Pink, Pete Yorn, and The Academy Is… in addition to recording several albums of his own (most recently the self-released Leavin’ The Game On Luckie St); Peter Morén, singer/guitarist for acclaimed indie rock band Peter Bjorn and John as well as an accomplished solo artist whose new album, The Last Tycoon, came out April 8, 2008; comedian/actor/writer Michael Showalter, best known for his work with sketch comedy shows The State and Stella as well as feature films Wet Hot American Summer and The Baxter; and Doug Brod, Editor of Spin magazine.

The competition is currently in its voting stage where two bands at a time battle it out on our Head-to-Head player. We are asking people if the think they can tell if a band has what it takes? And we are offering them the chance to help choose an artist worthy of a record contract. They can vote for their favorites every day and see who wins!

It would be greatly appreciated if you could post something about this on your blog. It really is a great opportunity to listen to some really good artist.

Thanks for your time,
MusicNation
