The Revival Hour – Pyre
The Revival Hour are John-Mark Lapham (from the Texan branch of the Earlies – god we miss the Earlies!) and DM Stith, who has recorded with Micah P Hinson and put out his own album (which is well worth tracking, by all accounts). The Revival Hour released a very fine single last year, the richly dramatic ‘Hold Back’, and they’re going to be releasing an EP called ‘Clusterchord’ on Antiphon on the 5th November.
‘Pyre’ is taken from this EP and suggests it will be a beautiful, unsettling piece of work. Stith’s voice is unearthly and the music is a stew of 60s soul and atmospheric orchestration. The album is going to be something special.
‘Hold Back’ is here and there’s a band page here. The Revival Hour are touring the UK, details from Twisted Folk here.
